He was the 3rd oldest son in the family. He graduated from Redstone High School in 1940 where he was an outstanding basketball star and a brilliant left handed softball pitcher. Pvt Field worked as a farm hand.

Pvt Warren E. Field enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 9 June 1944.
