He was born in Ralls County, Missouri but lived several years in Laddonia, Missouri.Pvt John S. Snyder enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 3 April 1944.
Before he enlisted, he was employed with the Bluff City International Shoe Company.
He received his training at Camp Wolters, Texas. Before he was sent to Germany, he was stationed in France and England.
He got wounded on 21 October 1944. As a result of his wounds he died 7 days later.
When he died, his son was only 4 years old and his daughter only 2 years old.
