1st Lt Albert C. Packwood Jr. graduated from Dallas Technical High School in 1938 and was working as a stenographer when he enlisted in Dallas, Texas on 24 September 1941.He enlisted in Dallas, Texas on 24 September 1941 and completed Officer's Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia where he was commissioned on 30 June 1942. He was went overseas in March 1944 and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day.
He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for refusing to surrender his platoon when they were surrounded.
