T/Sgt Alden P. Cochran joined the Regular Army on 26 September 1938.

He took part in the invasion of North Africa and Sicily. He also participated in the D-Day landings at Omaha Beach on 6 June, 1944, where for his actions he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for gallantry in action in connection with combat operations against the enemy.
