T/Sgt Joseph Curran worked as an attendant at a filling station.He joined the Regular Army in Newark, New Jersey on 14 October 1940.
He was taken prisoner on 27 July 1944 in the vicinity of La-Chapelle-en-Juger in France.
He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for gallantry in action.
He was officially declared dead one day and one year after the assumed date of his death.
