Pvt Chester Erbe enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 29 June 1943 and trained with the infantry at Fort Wheeler, Ga., was transferred to the Air Cadets and attended A. and M. College in Oklahoma until he returned to the infantry. He left for overseas on September 15, 1944.
He attended high school for 3 years and worked in a chemical factory before he enlisted.
