Prior to entering the Army Sgt Walter Kaulfuss was employed for 13 years as foreman of the General Cigar factory in Kingston. He received his basic training at Camp Wheeler, Georgia and went overseas in March, 1944. He was the holder of the Bronze Medal and the Purple Heart for wounds he received in October, 1944.
Walter Kaulfuss's mother and two brothers were residing in Germany.
