Pfc John H. Walker orked on a farm before he enlisted at Camp Dodge, Herrold, Iowa on 18 March 1944.

He was reported missing in action on 24 November 1944 when his unit has engaged in the fighting on Hill 207 near Schöntal.

He was declared officially death one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.

On 18 April 2018 the Defence POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that the remains of Pfc. John H. Walker were found and identified, buried in a grave at the Ardennes American War Cemetery as an unknown. A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.
