More information

Pfc Robert L. Schear enlisted at Camp Dodge, Herrold, Iowa on 19 March 1943.

He was a sales clerk before he enlisted. He went overseas in April, landed in England and remained there until after D-Day when he was sent to the front lines in France. He was wounded in action at St. Lo, July 11 and was sent to a hospital in England. He returned to his company September 1.

Pfc Schear was reported missing on 29 November 1944 and was officially decleared dead on 30 November 1945. He was a member of a six man patrol which did not return from a scouting mission. It is believed that they were surprised and overcome. A search was made of aid stations, but no trace could be found of him.
