Pvt Frederick A. Voss was an architect before he enlisted he joined the Regular Army in Syracuse, New York on 7 November 1941.

He was reported wounded in action in June 1944 and was diagnosed with a 1st location injury to the buttock and hip, a 2nd location of the fingers, and the 3rd location of callosity. The causative agent was listed as artillery shell fragments.
