S/Sgt Edwin M. Brouws attended South High School and was a smith.

He enlisted at Fort Douglas, Utah on 1 July 1942.

He was was awarded the Silver Star Medal three times (the second and third time posthumously) for gallantry in action in connection with combat operations against the enemy. One of the Silver Stars was awarded for leading across a bridge without casualties.
