Pfc Frederick J. Beirlein attended Brooklyn Boys Vocational High School.He joined the Regular Army at Fort Hamilton on 21 September 1938.
He served with his unit during the campaigns in North Africa, Sicily and Normandy.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Solers, France.
His brother Donald served with the Air Corps.
