Cpl Carroll A. Anderson graduated from Westmont-Upper Yoder High School in 1938 and worked at the Bethlehem's Johnstown Plant.

He enlisted on 12 May 1943 and trained with a tank destroyer unit. However, he was transferred to the infantry before going overseas.

He was reported wounded in action on 2 August 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.

Cpl Anderson was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, Belgium.
