Biography

1st Lt James G. Colford attended Central High School in Duluth.He enlisted in January 1942. He served at the Aleutian Islands from October 1942 until April 1944.
He was wounded in action on 15 October 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.
He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 2 February 1945. After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 3 September 1948.
Lt Colford died of a gunshot wound in the left side of his chest.
