Cpl Zenas H. Pond graduated from Central High School and was employed by Oldsmobile before he enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 20 October 1942. He trained at Camp Wolters, Texas; Fort Benning, Georgia; Miami Beach, Florida and Fort Meade, Maryland. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
