Cpl Joseph B. Roth was employed by the Wilbur-Suchard Chocolate Co. in his hometown.

He enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 20 June 1941 and served three years as a military policeman at Camp Belvoir, Maryland. He was sent overseas in February 1945.
