More information

1st Lt Max L. Miller left instructions with the Red Cross that if anything should happen to him, his wife was not to know it until their baby was born and the doctor had pronounced her well enough to know the news. His daughter Karen Sue Miller was born on 21 January 1945, over a month since Mrs. Miller's parents, Mr. and Mrs. V.O. Mariott of Fort Wayne, learned Lt Miller was dead. The parents kept the news from their daughter, as her husband had wished.
