S/Sgt John L. Seeger graduated from Sewanhaka High School in 1938 and attended Fordham University for one year. He was employed at the London & Lancashire Indemnity Company.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in New York City, New York on 26 January 1942 and was sent overseas on 26 July 1944.
