1st Lt Donald E. Ross graduated from State Teachers Collige in Bridgewater, Massachusetts in 1935 and was a teacher.

He enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 3 February 1942.

1st Lt Ross was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, Belgium.
