More information

Capt Rowland A. Koskamp graduated from Oostburg High School, Hope College and Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan.

He was taken prisoner on 20 December 1944 and died in Stalag XIII-B.

Per Chaplain Mark R. Moore: "“I reached down for a dog tag. When I held it in my hand I read, ‘Rowland A. Koskamp.’ I dropped it on his chest and took hold of the left side of his shirt collar. There was the cross! I looked into the face and surely enough there was Chaplain Rowland A. Koskamp."

Per Fr Paul W. Cavanaugh, S.J. Chaplain 106th 423 IR: "Capt John Madden came up to me, “Father, one of the protestant Chaplains has been killed and the others want you to come over here.” I went with John to the site where Chaplain Koskamp lay. Chaplains Moore, Curtis, and Stonesifer were working over him and had just identified him. His face was charred.”
