2nd Lt Alfred C. Blozis attended Georgetown University and was a professional football player and track & field star before he enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 7 December 1943.

While on scouting duty in the Vosges Mountains in France in January 1945, he went on a solo mission to find two missing soldiers of his unit and never came back. His body was found in April 1945.
