Pvt Leo J. Soucy was a sales clerk before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Portland, Maine on 23 March 1942.

The AmVet Post in Lewiston was named in honor of Pvt Leo Soucy and his brother, Corp Edmund Soucy who died in Burma.
