Pvt Richard A.W. Day was a machinist before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 30 November 1943.

His remains were found in Simonskall and initially registered as Unknown X-2704. He was evacuated to Ardennes Cemetery and could be identified at the identification center.
