Pfc Ory S. Patten was a graduate of Claridon High School in 1937 and was employed at the Pollak Steel Co.

He was married to Ethel Mae Smith, on 9 February 1941.

He enlisted in Columbus Ohio on 12 December 1942 and was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indana and later received training at Camp Toccoa and Fort Benning, Georgia. and at Camp Pickett, Virginia.

He was officially decleared dead one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.

Ppf Ory S. Patten's uncle - Pvt Ory J. Struthers - was killed in WWI and is buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Romagne, France. He was named after him.
