Lt Lambkin's father immigrated from England in 1912.

He graduated from Helena High School and Montana State University.

He joined the Army on 30 April 1943 and was commissioned a second lieutenant at Fort Benning, Georgia in early 1944.

He was promoted to first lieutenant just before his death.

His parents received notification at the end of November 1944 that he was classified as MIA. Ironically, a photo of LT Lambkin receiving a flower from a young child appeared on page 12 in the November 26th edition of the local newspaper. The caption read, "Flower and smile for a doughboy. . ."
