Pvt Herbert W. Edwards volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Thomas Newport, Kentucky on 16 October 1942.

Pvt Edwards was reported Missing in Action on 11 November 1944. He was officialy declared death one year and one day after he went missing. He remains were never recovered.
