More information

Pfc Harry G. Bohler Jr. attended high school for four years and was a toolmaker and die sinker and setter.

He enlisted in Toledo, Ohio on 6 January 1943. He was sent overseas in October 1943.

On the evening of 8 June 1945, Pfc Bohler was preparing to go on guard duty. As he walked down from the second floor of the house in which he was billeted, a rifle was accidentally discharged from the floor below. The bullet struck him in the left leg, severing an artery. He was rushed to the nearest hospital and given plasma during the transport. During the trip he was completely conscious. Although he felt some pain at first, an opiate was administered.
