Pfc Vern F. Klein was employed by the Cownie Fur Company.He had been overseas since the middle of September 1944.

At the time of his death his brother Emmet was somewhere in Belgium.

Vern Klein was taken prisoner on the same day of his death. At that time, his unit was engaged in the fighting west of Schmidt.
