T/5 Wilbur J. Diefenthaler attended college and worked at a woodworking company. He enlisted in Milwaukee on 22 November 1942.He was taken prisoner of war and died in the POW camp Stalag IX-B.
His twin brother, Willard was a member of the 423th Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, HQ & HQ Company, and was also taken prisoner. He also stayed in Stalag IX-B until he was moved to Stalag IX-A on 25 January 1945. He survived the war and was liberated on Good Friday 1945.
