Pvt Harry D. Clare attended Altoona High School.He enlisted in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 4 March 1943.
He was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schlausenbach, Germany on 16 December 1944 and held prisoner in the POW camp Stalag IV-B.
He died at the POW hospital in Wahren-Leipzig and was initially buried at the East Cemetery of Leipzig-Pegau on 12 March 1945. He was disinterred by an American Search and Recovery Team on 29 June 1945 and evacuated to Lorraine Cemetery.
