According to a grave report of the 648 Feldgendarmerie Trupp of the 3rd Fallschirmjäger Division, Pfc Mueller was taken prisoner and killed by an American shell hit the same day in Valender. He was initially buried at a provisional army cemetery next to the church of Valender.Later he was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery at Foy, Belgium.
