S/Sgt Louis J. Paumer was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company, before he enlisted in September 1943.

He was taken prisoner and died in Stalag IV-B

His brother, Cpl Edward D. Paumer, served with the Quartermaster Corps and his brother, Cpl Richard C. Paumer, served in England with the Army Air Force. Their father was a veteran of the First World War.
