Cpl Calvin E. Mathews worked on a farm before he enlisted in Fort McClellan, Alabama on 12 September 1942.He first served as an instructor with the Military Police.
He was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schönberg, Belgium on 16 December 1944 and died of malnutricion in Stalag VIII-A.
