S/Sgt James R. Grady attended college before he joined the Regular Army on 14 September 1939.

He was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schlausenbach, Germany and died from bronchial pneumonia at Stalag XII-A.

S/Sgt Grady is remembered at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith Sebastian County, Arkansas.
