More information

Pfc Lawrence L. Osborn attended 3 years of high school and worked for his own account before he enlisted.

He was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schlausenbach, Germany on 16 December 1944 and was sent to Stalag IX-B, Bad Orb, Germany. The camp was liberated on 4 April 1945 by the U.S. Army but Pfc Osborn wasn't present.

He was moved to the Berga concentration camp in February 1945 and was forced to do hard labor.

On 4 April, the 300 surviving American prisoners were marched out of the camp ahead of approaching American troops. He died during this march near the town of Durenich, Germany and was buried by the side of the road. His body was found with a Bible with his name in his pocket.
