Pfc Dale D. Proper graduated from Wadsworth High School. He was employed as a salesman with the Ohio Match Co.He enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 10 January 1944 and was sent overseas in September 1944.
He was taken prisoner on 16 December 1944 and was held captive in Stalag IV-B
Pfc Proper's parents and wife received several cards from him in March and April 1945, after he had been takn prisoer. No further word came until the war department sent a message that he died in a hospital in Meinringen, Germany.
