2nd Lt Lewis R. Walker stated that S/Sgt Jones and Pfc Carl Aylesworth, who were reconnoitering a withdrawal route, were killed by small arms fire. For this action they were both recommended for the a Silver Star Medal.S/Sgt Raymond F. Jones was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Foy, Belgium.
His daughter was born in April 1945.
