Pfc Lewis S. Alley graduated from South Bristol High School and was employed by Rice Brothers prior to entering the service.He enlisted in Portland, Maine on 5 August 1943.
Pfc Alley died of a penetration wound in the chest. He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 28 November 1944. After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 24 June 1948.
