More information
It was policy to let the family of a deceased soldier decide where his final burial place would be. In 1949, when a final decision had to be made for Pvt Scott, his wife was remarried and his children were still underage. Other relatives were no longer alive of could not be located. Therefore an administrative decision was made to have his remains finally interred at Margraten. He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Margraten on 19 November 1944. After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 23 July 1949.
