Pfc Howard W. Haupt enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 11 September 1942.He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: For heroic achievement and service from 13 June to 24 December 1944, in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Pvt Haupt distinguished himself by meritorious performance of duty as an ammunition bearer in a mortar squad. His soldierly attributes and demonstrated fortitude in the face of handicaps, were decided factor in accomplishing in an outstanding manner all missions assigned to him. Pvt Haupt's ability, collness under fire and constant devotion to duty contributed to the combat achievements of his unit and merit high praise.
