Roy W. Thomas was employed as a painter.

He enlisted in August 1943/

Pvt Thomas volunteered to guide supply vehicles to front line companies through intermittent artillery and mortar fire and over a route previously zeroed in by the enemy. Leaving his sheltered position, he moved alongside his vehicle in preperation for leaving. A heavy concentration of artillery fire fell in the area mortally wounding him.
