Pfc Frank C. Orecchio enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 26 April 1943.

He was a graduate of Somerville High School where he was one of the mainstays of the varsity football team. He was employed by the Central Railroad of New Jersey before his enlistment. For 19 months he trained with an anti-aircraft unit, but on a reassembling of units was transferred to the Infantry. Pfc Orecchio served on the Belgian and German fronts.
