Major Leland L. Lambe attended Central High School in Charlotte. He was employed at Duke Power Company at the Accounting Department in Charlotte.He joined the National Guard on 7 October 1940 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
He was killed by artillery fire. At the time of his death, he was serving as Acting Lieutenant Colonel of his battalion.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, Belgium.
