Harled E. Griffith gradudated from William Penn High School in 1927 and was employed by the J.C. Penny Co. in New York City in the display department and later did sign painting in York.

He enlisted on 27 March 1944 at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland and was overseas for only about six weeks before he was killed in action.
