Pvt. Paul J. Liquori joined the National Guard Company C 22nd Regiment on 7 December 1942 at the age of 17 in Astoria, New York for 2 years. He dropped out of the National Guard on 19 June 1943 because he failed to attend drills.

On 8 June 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army in Camp Upton Yaphank, New York. He attended 2 years of high school before he enlisted.
