Pfc Lyle M. Gebo attended Potsdam High School and worked in a paper mill.He enlisted in Utica, New York on 29 October 1942 and was sent overseas in June 1944.
Pfc Gebo was wounded in action in Frane on 24 July 1944 and after returning to the frontlines, he was wounded a second time in Belgium, before receiving the third and fatal injuries.
He was due for a pass and had planned to use the time to look for his brother, Pvt Frederick L. Gebo, a paratrooper who was serving somewhere in France.
