Pvt Mike J. Smorado was a chauffeur with the Northern Indiana Transit Company.He joined the Regular Army in January 1940 and was discharged a year later when the law releasing those in the service over 28 years of age was put into effect. He reenlisted in December 1941 and was sent overseas in September 1944.
At the time of his death, his brother Latsie was serving in the Philippines.
