More information

Pfc Michael Tulay enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 8 December 1942.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal. The citation cited: Pfc Tulay, as a member of a reconnaissance patrol returning to friendly lines with extremely valuable information, when suddenly confronted by heavy enemy fire, deliberately exposed himself to draw the hostile fire and thereby enabled the remainder of the patrol to complete their mission. In the performance of this brave, unselfish act, Pfc Tulay lost his life. The courage, initiative and supreme devotion to duty displayed by Pfc Tulay reflect high credit upon himself and are in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service.
