Note about the picture: On the picture Lewis Browne poses, wearing the chevrons of a First Sergeant and the insignia of the 22nd Infantry Regiment. This picture was provided by a nephew, David Browne (courtesy of researcher Dianna Morely) who confirmed that this is Lewis Browne. Research also confirmed that Lewis Browne previously served with the 22nd Infantry Regiment, was promoted to First Sergeant, and was later transferred to the 335th Infantry Regiment. There is no further explanation in the records located regarding his transfer to the 335th Infantry Regiment or change in rank.
