More information

Pfc Merrill P. Hughes graduated from Frankfort High School in 1942 and was attending Kent State University when he enlisted at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 10 March 1943. He was selected for the A.S.T.P. program and spent nine months at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. When the program was disbanded, he was transferred to the infantry.

He was killed in action by an enemy artillery shell that blasted in a tree.
